Period Resources: The Letters of Charles Tenney with Adelaide Case, 1861-1863

Such a wonderful collection this is.  Charles Tenney joined the 7th Ohio Vol. Infantry in 1861, and corresponded with his friend Adelaide Case.  At first Adelaide tells him that she's writing with him because she felt bad that his sister's wouldn't write to him, but as the letters go along her tone begins to change.  After a while she denies that she has feelings for him and holds him at arm's length, but in the end she admits that she's fallen in love with him and the relationship blossoms in their letters.  Lots of information in here on all sorts of topics, including Adelaide's stint as a school teacher.
